Kindergarten Transition to School

There are four visits to the school in October / November. On your arrival you are presented with an Information Package that consists of a Kindergarten Transition DVD and Orientation Booklet.  The DVD provides you with a glimpse of school life here at Plumpton Public School. This DVD allows you to access information and share the experience with family and friends in the comfort of your own home. The orientation booklet walks you and your child around different areas of the school. Your book will be stamped when you visit each area.

1st Visit: PURPOSE: To orientate students and their parents to some places around the school and to learn the rules associated with those places.

2nd Visit: PURPOSE: To attend a junior assembly and experience in the hall and observe and enjoy the performances by a Kindergarten class.

3rd Visit: PURPOSE: To participate in a structured craft activity and meet current Kindergarten students and their teachers.

4th Visit: PURPOSE: Students leave their parents and participate in a typical Kindergarten structured play session in the Kindergarten classes and learn a song while their parents attend an Expo / information session.

We also hold a Tea and Tissues morning for parents who want to get together when their children have gone to class. We know it can be difficult those first few times to say "see you later".

Beginning school is a huge step in every child's life. We aim to make the transition to school as smooth as possible for all involved.
